About Us

Mental distress is a huge problem – yet one that carries enormous discrimination, and is also very poorly understood by the general public.

This is despite the fact that one in four adults in the UK will experience some form of mental health problem in their lifetime; and almost a million children and young people have some sort of mental disorder.

ok2b is a grassroots organisation, run predominantly by volunteers, and is a UK registered charity (1112552). It seeks to work on several fronts to tackle the long-standing problem of mental health discrimination:

  • to arrange a range of events - including concerts and comedy nights.

  • to challenge inaccurate and discriminating representations of mental distress in the media

  • to expand this website to become a centre of excellence to highlight key facts and figures around mental health discrimination.

  • to add to the evidence base with regard to mental health discrimination.

  • to act as a catalyst, and to ensure that the sector as a whole raises its profile with public figures, celebrities, politicians, business leaders, think tanks and other key influencers.

We hope that mental health will be spoken about in the future more openly, knowledgeably and without fear or prejudice. ok2b seeks to be one of the major catalysts for this change.
